It's finally here...
It only took me five years to put into action...
As of tomorrow morning the book I have poured blood, sweat, and tears into will be available for the world to see. It is both exhilarating and terrifying to be done with the first of hopefully many chapters to come in the Hallowed Veil Series. As a first time author, and self-published to boot I do not expect to knock it out of the park with my first publication, but I do hope that those of you who read it will find it enjoyable. Despite the inevitable typos you'll find... sorry in advance. I thought I would take the time to talk about the book in some detail for those of you who may not know about it, but first I'd like to give thanks.
I'd like to start off by thanking my wife who has put up with a moody, unfiltered version of myself throughout this process. Though the book has been through many drafts this seventh, or eighth version has been trying, and she put up with my grump during edit hell. I'd also like to thank my beta readers, in particular Sean Rogers who helped me to shape this story into something viable. If you need an extra pair of eyes I highly recommend him. I'd also like to thank everyone who has followed the progress of the book via Inkshares.com and Facebook. Many of you fellow authors have offered kind words and motivation to keep going. Last, but not least, to all my family members who have supported me in this wild endeavor to become a published author, particularly mom and dad who always gave me the green light to pursue dreams.
So what is this book about?!
About Nemeton: The Trial of Calas
Some of you have read earlier versions via Inkshares or Wattpad...I must apologize for that...Like most first and second and third drafts they were ...well garbage...
This version although similar in many aspects has a completely different feel. I went through several rewrites and finally settled on a story that I believed would engage readers from a wide audience. Thus this version came about.
Nemeton takes place before the year 3,000 B.C.E. Set in this mythic, antediluvian past the tale follows several characters as they grapple with politics, religion, identity, and the curve balls life throws at us all. In the world of the novel all kingdoms and dominions are subject to the Nemeton, an organization of druidic immortals who enforce the divine law of the Great Goddess.
See the Amazon Book description below:
For millennia the Nemeta have kept the fragile truce in the antediluvian world. A peace built on an ancestral curse upon mankind's primal link to magic. After six thousand years, Man has tired of enduring subjugation. Kings and peasants clamor. Thrones tremble at whispers of war between the primeval foes of Man and the Fae.
Amidst her studies of mythical texts and artifacts, a young Seræphym uncovers designs to reverse the hex. A scheme that implicates her own people as heretics. Faced with the apocalyptic consequences of magical war, Samsara must choose between her freedom or that of her people.
Even if it means eternal service to the order that threatens to exterminate her kind.
In the world of the Hallowed Veil the reader travels back to a time when mankind lived along side the fairy folk and all the creatures of myth and legend. All of your standard fantasy tropes are in attendance, though they have been slightly altered from our modern day imagery created by D&D, Lord of the Rings, and other fantasy titans. We've got elves, dwarves, gnomes, fairies, sprites, centaurs, dryads, angels, demons, mages, gods and goddesses, if its in mythology I've probably shoved it all in there. Those familiar with ancient Celtic, Egyptian and Mesopotamian cultures will find a myriad of familiar names and faces. I wanted to tell a story that preceded the stories of mythology as we know it, and found that wasn't an easy order, but I believe I have created an engaging and thought provoking take on our ancient past.
Now I can't give the entire book away in this post, but I can give the book away to those of you who have a Kindle Unlimited Subscription! Since I self-published Nemeton: The Trial of Calas will be available to check out and read for free, pending a subscription to Kindle Unlimited, which I personally love. Considering all the Harry Potter Books are on there, its a win win! Though Kindle Unlimited is awesome, I have also made it available for download for $2.99.
I do hope that you find the time to read it, though at 626 pages I know it won't be a quick read, except for the utterly voracious reader. I welcome your comments, reviews, input, and your questions as I prepare to unload a sequel to this novel in 2018, so stay tuned for upcoming details! With all that said, I thank you for your support past, present, and future.
